It has been years since I wrote the last Daniel’s Fork book. I always knew I’d return to the series. It is, to this day, my best work. It became apparent, after re-reading and re-editing it so many times, that I needed to go back to the beginning, to the time of Daniel Montero. There is so much about the latter books that needs a basis, a framework against which so much will make sense. First Lord will be that framework.

I have been working on this book, on and off, for several years. It’s an inconceivable coincidence that a pandemic of our own took place in our time. It’s a pandemic that destroys Daniel Montero’s world and eventually drives him out across the continent in search of new beginnings. In so doing, he becomes the father of a new nation, and his companions with all their quirks and talents, unwittingly shape the future of their world.

I intend to post, chapter by chapter, the work in progress. I don’t really know if readers will be interested. I hope they will. I will welcome comments and ideas. If there is something you feel I should do better, let me know.
